Scott Wins back-to-back Major Championships
Jade Scott became the first player in Legends Junior Tour history to win consecutive Major championships after firing a final round 71 at the Tylerpaper.com Championship at Hollytree Country Club. Alex Moon won two Majors in 2006 on Tour but not consecutively, as Scott did following his victory in July at the Texas State Junior Championship. Branson Davis went wire-to-wire to win the Boys 14 & Under division while Kelsey Kirkpatrick did the same thing in the Girls division.
Scott began the day two strokes behind first and second round leader Hudson Hansard. Scott used at great stretch of three birdies in four holes in the middle of his round to leapfrog Hansard for the win. Scott birdied holes #3, #7, #8 and #10. Scott finished with a three round total of even-par 216, enough for a four stroke win. Trey Sullivan, currently ranked #2 on Tour played well shooting 74, securing a tie for second place. Conner Ligon had the shot of the day on Sunday, making an ace at the difficult par-3 #8 which played at 190 yards. Ligon used a four iron.
Branson Davis used yet another solid round to breeze to a nine stroke win in the Boys 14 & Under Division. Davis made three birdies during the round, completing his wire-to-wire victory. Jake Gorman shot a 77 for the second time in three rounds, good enough to finish second.
As evident after two rounds, Golden’s Kelsey Kirkpatrick marched easily to her first Major championship victory of the year. Kirkpatrick shot 78 in the final round for a winning three round total of 226. Chaney Uhles finished second while Whitney Ohlhausen finished third.
