Houston Area Junior Classic

 

Cash Wilkerson jumped out to a three stroke lead after the opening round of the Houston Junior Golf Classic at Raven Nest Golf Club on Saturday. Wilkerson shot an impressive opening round three-under-par 68 to vault to the top of the leaderboard in the Boys 15-18 division. With this event being the last chance for players to earn their way into the year end Tour Championship, several players need good performances his weekend to earn a spot in the field. Players such as Cal Clyde, Corey Hayford, and Mike Eyeington; all looking to wrap up a spot, find themselves in the top 10 after the opening round. Nathan Watson sits in second place after shooting even par 71.

 

The top of the leaderboard is much more tight, with Tylel Elbrecht, Matt Gilchrest, and Stratton Nolan all shooting 75 on Saturday. That final pairing cannot count out Colin Frizzell, who sits in 4^th place after shooting 79.

 

Ryann Haddow and Katelyn McDougal both shot 78 to share the lead in the Girls Division. Rachel Mulkey and Janelle Lysack sit one and two strokes respectively going into the final round.
