| It’s Wilkerson Wire-To-Wire
Three Way Playoff in Boys 14 & Under
Sunday’s final round of the Houston Junior Golf Classic was played under perfect scoring conditions at Raven Nest GC in Huntsville. With temperatures in the low 70’s and just a breath of wind, tournament officials expected some low scores. Those low scores never materialized on Sunday as a tough course setup elevated the field scoring average a full stroke. Cash Wilkerson was able to cruise to a relatively easy six stroke win after shooting even par on his front nine on his way to a 73 to finish the tournament at one under par. After a full leaderboard shuffle ensued, Mike Eyeington slid into second place to earn a runner up trophy.
Ryanne Haddow won the Girls division by two strokes over Katelyn McDougal after a wild finishing three holes. McDougal was able to erase a two shot deficit with her play on #16 and #17, pulling even to Haddow on the final hole. Haddow held strong though, making par on the final hole to secure a victory. The win was Haddow’s first on Tour, and she earns an AJGA exemption for her effort.
Stratton Nolen won the Boys 14 & Under division after a one hole three way playoff over Matt Gilchrest and Tyler Elbrecht. The three played so closely all tournament long that all three players shot 75 both days before needing the extra hole to determine the winner. Nolen won the playoff by making a three foot par save while his other two competitors failed to go up and down.
